Former U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his intention to accept campaign donations in the form of cryptocurrency. This announcement was made during a gathering organized by Trump himself, where he interacted with a group of non-fungible token (NFT) buyers.
The event was captured in multiple video clips uploaded by Frank Degods, a well-known NFT creator and influencer. Trump assured the attendees that he would facilitate the use of cryptocurrency for campaign donations, stating, “If you can’t, I’ll make sure you can.”
In the same gathering, Trump took a dig at current President Joe Biden, claiming that Biden lacks understanding of what cryptocurrency is. He further urged those who favor cryptocurrency to vote for him, emphasizing that crypto comes in various forms.
The event was organized to meet and dine with buyers of Trump’s “Mugshot Edition” NFTs. According to reports from Axios, each of the attendees had purchased more than 47 NFTs, each priced at $99. Trump proudly stated, “We did it when NFTs were not hot. We made NFTs hot again.”
