New Zealand has lowered its COVID-19 alert level in capital city of Wellington

The alert had been moved higher, to “2” on fears after an Australian tourist visited the city while infected. 

Looks like no infection spread though. 

From midnight Tuesday 29 June 2021 the alert level will be dialled back down to “1”.

NZ will also loosen travel restrictions with some parts of Australia. 

  • quarantine – free travel permitted from SA, ACT, Tasmania, Victoria from July 5
